Pflugerville, TX - July 15, 2011 - Voices in the Clouds, a documentary film project supported by the ATAYAL Organization, was selected to be screened at the 2011 Taiwan International Ethnographic Film Festival. The film festival will take place in the capital city of Taipei. This festival is organized by Academia Sinica, so it is a truly a showcase to the academic community in Taiwan. This film festival focuses on ethnographic films produced by Taiwanese filmmakers, but will include indigenous films from other countries.
"This invitation will allow our orgnaization to reach out the the academic community in Taiwan, which will open a lot of doors to students." stated Tony Coolidge.
Voices in the Clouds is a documentary film which features Tony Coolidge's discovery of his mother's disappearing indigenous heritage in Taiwan, and reminds its viewers of the importance of connecting with the culture of their ancestors before it is too late. The film's selection into the 2011 Taiwan International Ethnographic Film Festival will allow Tony Coolidge to reach out to scholars to increase his understanding of indigenous issues and to help him build on his future projects in Taiwan.
